The OpenScape Business (OSB) family has now been established for a year and has been a huge success offering customers a flexible portfolio for up to 500 users on a single site. Each system out of the box offers a huge range of features i.e. unified communications, IP telephony, voicemail/fax to email and a skills based Contact Centre.
Unify (formerly Siemens Enterprise Communications) have also remembered their existing customer base which with a simple migration path an existing Hipath 3000 can be upgraded with some minor hardware changes to become an OpenScape Business with the full feature set.
Until now there has not really been a solution for small or micro businesses (3 users plus) the OSB X3 is just a little oversized for a 3+ user business, as of summer 2014 the OpenScape Business X1 will be released for sales in the UK for smaller businesses up to 30 users. This is great news for small businesses starting up on a tight budget as the system offers VOIP telephony both SIP trunking and IP clients, voicemail and entry level unified communications. The system is also extremely flexible to suit customers to just move into any infrastructure as the system will have digital and analogue ports on-board this allows the use of either a traditional telephony cabling or full Cat 5/6 infrastructure, this means customers on a budget are not forced into investing in a full network infrastructure from day 1 and therefore allowing the customer to grow the business at their own rate.
